Our CSR actions

Through its strategic commitments and daily operations, CMI has set ambitious goals in environmental responsibility, social engagement, and societal responsibility.

CMI’s CSR Roadmap

CMI is committed to an ambitious CSR roadmap, structured around four key pillars, and aligned with our continued involvement in the Convention of Companies for the Climate (CEC).

Foster the emergence of new economic and operational models and support our clients in generating positive environmental and social impacts.

  • Expand our client portfolio to include organizations whose activities already contribute to net-positive impacts (such as hospitals, public sector entities, and low-carbon energy producers)
  • Integrate environmental and social issues into the firm’s strategy and transformation consulting offerings
  • Limit our own footprint and generate positive impact through our consulting missions

Lead CMI and its teams toward a regenerative business model

  • Commit to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030
  • Raise awareness among CMI employees about all planetary boundaries
  • Recruit and train internal experts capable of supporting our new service offerings

Promote the meaningful purpose of consulting professions and ensure everyone can practice it in alignment with CMI’s collective values and employer promise

  • Be a proactive agent of inclusion within society
  • Ensure gender equality at all levels of the organization
  • Promote a healthy work-life balance for all employees
  • Encourage every consultant to play an active role in the collective dynamic

Share and redistribute value among all those contributing to its creation — and beyond

  • Redistribute value to all stakeholders involved in its creation
  • Extend the redistribution of created value beyond the firm itself
  • Implement performance management that equally prioritizes economic, environmental, and social dimensions

For several years, CMI has been actively committed to a variety of initiatives.

CMI’s Social Impact

We are implementing initiatives to improve our social impact.

Employee well-being and equal opportunity are at the heart of our actions.

  • CMI has implemented recruitment processes that ensure gender equality and promote diversity. We are firmly committed to non-discrimination and actively advocate for diversity and inclusion.
  • CMI organizes group and individual training programs to support the personal and professional development of each employee.
  • An Operational Committee has been established to ensure effective human capital management and to review and adapt related internal policies — including fair compensation, employee engagement, and more.
  • A remote work–friendly policy is in place, providing employees with significant flexibility in how they organize their work.
  • CMI is a proud signatory of the Diversity Charter.

Commitment to Workforce Inclusion and Employment of People with Disabilities

  • As part of our public sector service contracts, we have committed to dedicating a minimum number of hours to the employment of individuals in professional integration programs. The association Ensemble Paris Emploi Compétences supports us in meeting this commitment.
  • We also work with the adapted enterprise Cèdre Elise, where 90% of employees are people with disabilities. Their work includes the collection and secure destruction of confidential documents, as well as the recycling of our used coffee grounds. The contract we have entrusted to them since 2012 has helped stabilize their employment in the Paris region.

Gender Equality: The Talent & Woman Initiative

Since October 2022, CMI has been committed to an internal program aimed at raising ambition levels around gender diversity across all its business units, and at better supporting the long-term development of each individual’s potential — in a spirit of equity between women and men.

This program is built around four key components:

  • An external coaching program
  • Group training and experience-sharing sessions, with a focus on leadership development and communication
  • Measures promoting part-time work options
  • A structured mentoring program
  • The Talent & Woman Initiative also aims to raise awareness across all teams about the importance of gender diversity in the workplace. In October 2022, the entire firm participated in a conference on gender-based cognitive biases and how they can hinder workplace relationships and career progression. The session — “Collaboration between Women and Men Through the Lens of Cognitive Science” by Benoîte Aubé and Marie Lacroix — explored how evolving practices can support more effective collaboration.

Professional Integrity
  • A commitment to maintaining honest and fair relationships with clients

  • A duty to alert the client: immediate withdrawal from participation upon awareness of any actions potentially in breach of ethics, regulations, or laws
Quality of Services and Professional Expertise
  • Provide the necessary expertise to ensure the successful execution of each mission, for which CMI takes full responsibility
  • A commitment to continuously support and strengthen the client’s capabilities over time
Consulting Integrity and Independence
  • Execution of all missions with complete independence
  • Intellectual honesty as a guiding principle in all client relationships
  • The client’s interest takes precedence over the firm’s own interests—commercial or otherwise
  • CMI acts as an advisor, without replacing public decision-makers in choosing public policies or making strategic decisions

Ethics in relations with the public sector
  • Interactions between CMI and public sector stakeholders outside of mission periods or competitive bidding processes are considered essential, as they allow for mutual understanding of evolving needs, expertise, and competencies on both sides
  • CMI and its consultants are strictly prohibited from engaging in any behavior that could lead public officials to breach the ethical rules applicable to them
  • CMI rigorously adheres to all regulations governing public procurement of consulting services
  • Consultants are required to clearly state their identity, the name of their employer, and their role as external advisors
  • CMI and its consultants are strictly prohibited from engaging in any behavior that could lead public officials to breach the ethical rules applicable to them
Pro Bono and Skills-Based Volunteering (Consulting for the Public Sector)
  • CMI refrains from carrying out pro bono work on behalf of the State, its agencies or operators, local authorities, or any political organization, while fully respecting the individual freedom of each employee to engage personally in public or political activities of their choice.
  • However, the firm may undertake skills-based sponsorship missions (mécénat de compétences) in sectors covered by Law No. 2003-709 of August 1, 2003, on sponsorship, associations, and foundations. In such cases, CMI is committed to providing public beneficiaries with any information they may require to fulfill their public disclosure obligations related to these missions.

Preventing Conflicts of Interest
  • A firm commitment by the company to implement all necessary internal measures to prevent conflicts of interest
  • A systematic review of any potential conflict of interest involving other clients—public or private—brought to our attention
  • An appropriate response to any conflict of interest, whether through recusal or by implementing measures that ensure the mission is carried out with complete integrity and independence, while upholding the required level of confidentiality
CMI’s Approach to Tax Ethics
  • CM International (CMI) is an independent French firm, 100% owned by a group of partners through its holding company, CMI Groupe.
  • CMI reports its financial results and fulfills all tax obligations in France.
  • Our total revenue for 2023 amounted to €18.22 million.

Protection of Public Sector Data Privacy
  • An obligation to protect data and information entrusted by clients, including within the firm, by limiting access strictly to teams with a legitimate need to know.
  • The implementation of all available legal, physical, technological, and organizational measures to ensure this protection—and, where necessary, to return or securely destroy such data and information
Knowledge and Skills Transfer
  • A commitment to assess and provide skills transfer options to our public clients whenever the nature of the mission and the client’s expressed needs make it appropriate.
  • Provide clear information, transparent analyses, and accessible methodologies, designed to enable client teams to fully understand and adopt them, so they can independently address their own future needs.
Transparency
  • A commitment to provide clients and prospective clients with all published or non-confidential information related to our organization, structure, and any affiliations with other activities.
  • Complete transparency in presenting the division of roles between partners when missions involve co-contractors or subcontractors.
  • A prohibition on CMI’s use of public clients’ logos and graphic identities in its work and deliverables, unless expressly requested by the client or specified otherwise in the terms of reference or contract.
  • This restriction does not prevent the public client—who owns and is responsible for the validated deliverables—from using or publishing all or part of CMI’s work under its own branding and graphic identity. Conversely, the public client is responsible for ensuring it holds the rights to do so.

CMI’s Environmental Impact

At CMI, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint across several key areas:

Sustainable Travel Practices – Internally and During Client Engagements

  • We systematically assess the added value of in-person meetings versus remote interactions.
  • We prioritize rail travel for business trips (90% of our journeys are by train).
  • Taxis are not permitted when clients are accessible via urban public transportation (e.g., for Paris-based clients).
  • We integrate ecological footprint criteria when choosing event and seminar venues.
  • We promote soft mobility (cycling) by providing facilities such as covered bike storage, showers, and incentive policies.

Eco-Friendly Office Operations

  • We practice digital sobriety in our office operations.
  • Paper usage is reduced through digital payroll, paperless participant materials, electronic signatures, and black-and-white, double-sided printing.
  • We enforce a “zero-goodies” policy for events and seminars.
  • We prioritize document sharing via platforms, minimize file sizes, and automatically delete non-essential emails and documents.
  • Office supplies are chosen with environmental impact in mind (e.g., recycled paper, reduced paper weight, no plastic cups or cutlery).

Sustainable Digital Communication

  • We limit email volume and restrict attachments to only what is necessary.
  • We use centralized platforms for document storage and sharing to reduce duplication and excessive transfers.
  • Data is stored in the Cloud, eliminating the need for on-site servers and reducing energy usage (due to lower power and cooling requirements).

Environmentally Aligned Office Space

  • Our Paris office is located in a high-performance building certified NF HQE (High Environmental Quality), Wiredscore, Breeam RFO 2015, and BBC Effinergie Renovation. It also includes employee wellness amenities (fitness room, Green Bar, massages, sports activities, etc.).
  • The premises use only LED lighting, which is turned off from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Office cleaning is provided by Cleany, a company that uses only organic cleaning products.

Internal awareness of energy and environmental issues

  • A dedicated ESG working group focuses on internal awareness-raising initiatives, with activities overseen and validated by the Strategic Committee.
  • Certified facilitators of the Climate Fresk, delivered both internally and for clients.
  • Promoting eco-friendly habits in the workplace (use of water bottles and tote bags, room temperature settings, etc.).

Team awareness on the topic of planetary boundaries.

Internal training delivered in 2023 to all consultants, management, and support functions: 3 training sessions per year for new joiners.

CMI’s Carbon Footprint
Our carbon assessments for 2022 and 2023 show a significant reduction in GHG emissions related to travel.

  • Our first GHG assessment in 2022 amounted to 4 tCO₂ equivalent per consultant. In 2023, it reached 4.28 tCO₂, a slight increase due to the inclusion of a broader scope with more comprehensive data.
  • On the same scope as 2022, emissions in 2023 decreased by 20% compared to the previous year. CO₂ emissions linked to travel decreased by -24%, even though the scope was broader than in 2022.
  • Our goal is to reduce our emissions below 3.5 tCO₂ equivalent per consultant by 2026.
  • Our main emission sources are:

– Travel (2022: 138 tCO₂ eq or 49% / 2023: 135.4 tCO₂e or 37%)

– Purchase of goods and services (2022: 132 tCO₂ eq or 47% / 2023: 214.5 tCO₂e or 59%)
