CMI Spain advises Spartes on its acquisition of Innova Consulting

CMI Spain, headquartered in Madrid, is proud to have led the commercial due diligence of Innova Consulting on behalf of Spartes backed by Andera Acto, as part of an international build-up. The acquisition marks the first step in Spartes’ international expansion, bringing Innova Consulting, a Spanish company, into the group.

A specialist in innovation financing advisory in Spain

Founded more than 15 years ago by Diego Ledesma, Innova Consulting supports Spanish companies in industry, IT, energy, health and chemicals across the main innovation financing mechanisms, from R&D tax credits (I+D+i) to regional, national and European grants, and tax lease structures. The firm employs around thirty consultants, including several senior scientific experts, and today works with more than 250 active clients in Spain on over 4,500 projects.

Its position rests on strong technical expertise, particularly in industrial and chemical sectors, a legacy of its founder’s background as a chemical engineer, together with a tailored advisory approach that has allowed the firm to gain market share quickly across its different business lines.

A new stage for Spartes, building on its innovation financing strategy

For Spartes, the acquisition serves two purposes at once: it is the group’s first international foothold and it strengthens its innovation financing offering, following on from the integration of Fineco completed in October 2025. It comes as the Spanish market gathers pace, with R&D tax credits gaining ground, public funding becoming increasingly regional, and tax lease emerging fast as an alternative financing route for innovative companies.

CMI Spain led an in-depth commercial due diligence covering the three markets addressed by Innova Consulting, examining their size and dynamics, the Spanish regulatory and competitive landscape, and the group’s positioning and growth outlook. CMI’s dedicated Madrid team brings strong knowledge of the Spanish market and enables CMI to support French companies in international build-ups such as this one.
